EXCLUSIVE: @TeenTitansMovie will feature @lilyachty as #GreenLantern and @halsey as #WonderWoman
From modeling to fashion design, to rapping to being a social media phenomenon, Lil Yachty's done a little bit of everything during his time in the spotlight. Now, it looks like the rapper's adding "part-time superhero" to his list.
Teen Titans Go! is Cartoon Network's remodeled version of the show's original 2003 incarnation, Teen Titans. Both variations of the series follow the exploits of teen superheroes Robin, Starfire, Beast Boy, Raven and Cyborg as they deal with typical teenage spontaneity and the not-so-typical struggle to defeat the bad guys. Teen Titans Go! is more humor-focused, while the original version featured a more serious, action-oriented tone.
Wonder Woman and Green Lantern aren't typically involved in Teen Titans Go! storylines, so it's safe to say Lil Boat will be taking on the adult incarnation of the famed, magical ring-wielding hero.
Joining him in the film, titled Teen Titans Go! to the Movies, will be singer Halsey, who happens to be the girlfriend of G-Eazy. Halsey co-stars as Amazon princess Wonder Woman — who travels around in her signature invisible jet — and rapper Lil Yachty plays Green Lantern in the upcoming animated movie (in theaters July 27) that takes the young heroes of the Cartoon Network show Teen Titans GO! to the big screen. They are the first of several celebrities lending their talents for additional DC characters in the project.
"Every superhero in the DC Universe has an impact on the fans, so we felt a great responsibility to find a voice for each character that would not only suit the role, but the playful tone of the Titans, and we’re thrilled with our cameo cast," Sam Register said to USAToday.
In addition to Yachty and Halsey, Robin will be played by Scott Menville, Starfire will be played by Hynden Walch, Tara Strong will take on the role of Raven while the role of Beast Boy will be handled by Greg Cipes and Superman voiced by Nicholas Cage!
Teen Titans GO! drops on July 27th.
